The Eat Sheet ‘Mad Men’ Copywriter Has A Boutique Wine Label On the Side

Ben Feldman, who plays Michael Ginsberg on the AMC series, co-owns a burgeoning Syrah-focused brand called Angelica Cellars that’s available at Providence, Street and Spago.

The ladies on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Divas are constantly drinking vino. Which is why co-star Ben Feldman, who’s appeared on the show since the beginning, has fruitlessly spent years “begging” Divas’ producers to put his own wine—a Syrah made from Central Coast grapes that he and childhood friend Eduardo Porto Carreiro sell under the name Angelica Cellars—on the program. “There was always so much red tape,” he says. “I’d bring empty bottles and they’d always use these fake ones created by the prop guys instead. I don’t know if it was an issue on Lifetime’s end or [production company] Sony’s end. But it never happened.”

The festival on the Riviera begins its draw to a close tonight with the star-studded, every-A-lister-in-the-known-universe amfAR gala. (Seriously, is anyone left in Hollywood?) It’s been a week of highs and lows, hip bustles and Row-wearing Olsens, lots of Armani Privé (above), and even more, it seemed, of Jane Fonda.

Need a refresher on the looks on la Croisette? Click through for our best of Cannes slideshow, plus details on the evening’s do-gooder gala. Who was the best of the fest? Sound off below.

Photo: Tommy Ton

All fashion types know that trend-setting is only half done on the runway; the other half is the province of the editors, stylists, and industry mavens that observe from the front row. And who watches the watchers? Our man in Milan (and Paris, London, New York, and wherever else stylish people go to peacock and preen), Tommy Ton. He’s just filed his seasonal dispatch on the looks, styles, prints, and colors of the moment. Tommy snapped everyone from models like Tati Cotliar and Joan Smalls to editors like Anna Dello Russo and Kate Lanphear and stylists like Catherine Baba. How to stay on message in the months to come? Go red, go bright, go for socks with those sandals, and above all, go check it out.

Rodnik Rocks

without comments

Apparently, we’re not the only ones feeling punk. British designer Philip Colbert of The Rodnik Band is launching a capsule collection for OVS, Italy’s answer to H&M, at its chain of 400 stores this Friday. And in his signature style, he’s written a song and produced a video for it that went live on YouTube this week. “God Dress the Queen!” is based on the Clash’s “London Calling.” Joe Strummer might not have approved of Colbert’s “London clothing” riff, but we’re betting he would’ve gotten a laugh out of his fish-and-chips T-shirt.

On Our Radar Aquazzura

without comments

Edgardo Osorio, the designer behind the new shoe collection Aquazzura, knows the luxury market. He’s spent ten years working with Salvatore Ferragamo, René Caovilla, and Roberto Cavalli, where most recently he’s been directing all of the label’s shoes, on and off the runway. But he also knows that not everyone can manage the luxury price point and that the market sorely needs options between the mass and the luxe. The Colombian-born, Florence-based designer, who was raised between Miami and London, aims to fill the gap. His shoes come in cashmere suede and baby calf, tricked out with anklet-chain details and adjustable-strap closures for a perfect fit, but top out at around $450 a pair. No wonder Barneys has already expressed interest.
